Springfield Announces Official Phase Two Reopening Plans
The Chamber has continued to work with local officials and businesses to ensure that you are well-informed about local plans to gradually reopen our economy during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, and to ensure that your voice is heard during the planning phases.
On Wednesday, city officials announced the details and timing of Phase Two of the reopening of our economy. The information is similar to what city leaders laid out in a public planning forum on May 15, with one main difference in regard to timing:
- The second phase is scheduled to take effect at 12:01 a.m. on Saturday, May 23, and could last through June 22; plans are to have the next phase begin on June 14 unless conditions warrant a change in that timing.
- Subsequent phases of reopening are still planned to proceed at three-week intervals, with health officials monitoring community health metrics to ensure the community remains at safe levels.
You can read more about the new orders, which take effect Saturday, on the city website, which also features a Frequently Asked Questions document about the Phase Two plans. We’ve also posted the information on the Chamber’s Reopening & Recovery Resources page.
