CoxHealth COVID – 19: Update to Our Community 7/23

COVID – 19 Updates

From our President & CEO

If you don’t follow our President & CEO Steve Edwards on Twitter (@SDECoxHealth), here’s what you may have missed:

7/23: Update: 32 current COVID inpatients, 13< 59 y/old, 2 in 20s, Cox testing results 268 positives as of July 1, 879 as of today. Rapid growth of disease prevalence after July 4th. Sorry it is upsetting to people, but we need to mask through out our region to protect those we love.

7/23: Simple summary: mild cases of COVID tend not to have enduring antibodies after 90 days. “results call for caution regarding antibody-based “immunity passports,” herd immunity, and perhaps vaccine durability…”

7/21: I am so grateful to the Springfield City Council Mayor for making  the smart and life preserving move to mandate face covering. Most of our admissions are from adjacent rural counties who have failed to take public health measures. History will judge us all in our response.

7/21: Image-guided Linac linear accelerator which allows for true  adaptive radiotherapy. Being installed today. Lead by Oncology Medical Director Dr Abe Abdalla. This will be the most advanced technology in our region.

If you don’t follow @CoxHealth on Twitter, you may have missed this as well:

7/23: A week has passed since Springfield’s masking ordinance began. We want to take the opportunity to thank our city leaders again for making this decision on behalf of our community. We know it wasn’t easy, but believe the science shows it will make a difference. #MaskUp417

7/16: Some have asked where patients we care for live. This map shows our service area – yellow is primary, blue is secondary. A significant percentage of patients we serve are outside Greene County. We care for patients who need us, regardless where they live in our service area.
